Wednesday - Lift up all items, except shoes and bulky boxes off the closet floor.

Thursday - Take a soft inventory of closet items.

Friday - Realistically thing about your stuff and dedicate that closet to important, often-used clothing.

Saturday - Get the right hangers together.

Sunday - Put all clothing and hangers, facing a uniform direction.

Saturday (and Sunday if necessary) - Purge clothes and make room.

Monday - Shop for any organisational products, with reservations.

    1. Computer area

    2. Reference area

    3. Clutter-free work area

    4. An "In" box

    5. An "out" zone or box

    6. Phone and communication zone, on the same side as your primary writing hand.

  • HELPING SENIORS GET ORGANISED

As we get older, we get wiser.....and have lots more stuff! It is very difficult to de-clutter items like mementoes, nostalgia and other painful memories. Professional Organiser Wendy A. Miller shared tips and tricks to on how to best do this.

    JUNK MAIL REMOVAL

Reduce the number of catalogs you are receiving by tearing off the name/address label and mailing it with a 'please remove me from your list' note to the catalog.

Stop pre-approved credit card offers by calling Trans Union at 888-567-8688. They have options to remove your name for two years or permanently. They share  data with Experian and Equifax.

Contacting direct marketing companies will not get your name off mailing lists of catalogs or brochures that you have indirectly solicited by utilizing their services in the past. You must  contact these organizations directly and ask to be removed from their mailing lists.

Credit Bureaus — Equifax / Trans Union / Experion These big three credit bureaus send out most of the unsolicited credit card offers. To stop credit card promotions from coming to your house, call 888-5OPT-OUT (888-567-8688) or visit www.optoutprescreen.com.

Direct Marketing Association (DMA) DMA is a trade association of businesses who advertise their products and services directly to consumers by mail. You may also fill out their which will go into effect sooner:www.dmachoice.org/MPS/mps_consumer_description.phpackHarte

Hanks Communications sends a wide variety of coupons and ads, including Penny Savers. Call and ask to be removed from their list: 800-422-4116. Vsit their website (scroll to bottom): www.pennysaverusa.com/contactus/

ADVO is the direct marketing company for ShopWise™ and Missing Children ads. Call and ask to be removed from their list: 888-241-6760. You may fill out a free online form at: www.advo.com/consumersupport.html

Publisher's Clearinghouse Sends sweepstakes promotions. Call and ask to be removed from their list:  800-645-9242

Catalogs or magazines that you do not want Visit Catalog Choice and fill out online registration form, indicating which catalogs are not wanted. No charge at: www.catalogchoice.org/

HOW TO STAY OFF MAILING LISTS

Check the Box. Utility companies, creditors, and other businesses now provide an opt-out box in the corner of monthly bills. Checking it will get you off the companies' own rent-sell lists. For bills without such a box, simply write "Don't rent or sell my name" on the top of the bill when you pay it.

Do not join buyers’ clubs. When your card is swiped through the register, your name and address can be linked to your purchases and your buying habits tracked and sold to anyone willing to pay for them.

Never file a permanent change of address form with the U.S. Post Office. Each year the U.S. Postal Service rents out the names and addresses from permanent change of address forms. It's better to inform companies of your move individually; or, fill out the form for a temporary change of address. The USPS does not sell lists of temporary addresses, so your mail will be diverted up to one year.

Be wary of warranty cards. You do not always have to fill out the card, to activate a warranty. They actually will get your name on more lists than you want. But know that ignoring them means you will not be notified of product recalls. For items with a safety concern, like household appliances or baby toys, fill out your name, address, and the product's serial number. Skip the hobbies and interests sections. Also write "Do not rent or sell my name" at the top of the card.
